Today We Are All Irish

Some may call it a holiday, but I think I am just looking for an excuse to celebrate.

We wear green…..

We drink green beverages….

We celebrate all day long…….

We eat corned beef and cabbage……

We bake Irish Soda Bread…..

We see shamrocks and rainbows all around…..

We order shamrock shakes……

Some may call it a holiday, but I call it an excuse to celebrate!

  1. Irish soda bread? This one has me curious. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it. This is the holiday that usually has me digging in my closet wondering why I don’t purchase anything green. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Enjoy!

  2. What a fun poem about all things Irish! I love that your words are so all-inclusive, too! Isn’t it strange how a “holiday” centered around a nationality has become synonymous with celebration? I shared some of my memories of St. Patrick’s Day past with my fourth graders yesterday – remembering the green carnation my father would give me on this day, the various “Kiss me, I’m Irish” pins I would wear through the years, and of course, the green clothing/accessories. We never did embrace the corned beef and cabbage tradition, opting instead for the Italian side of the family for our meals! Happy celebrating!

  3. So fun to celebrate! I wore my green to school yesterday, and other than that, we are just chilling! Maybe I should have planned something more fun!

  4. So true! My St. Pat’s beverage doesn’t even have to be green, just has to rhyme with kale! Lol!

  5. Yesterday at school, the students were decked in all things green. How fun to see them celebrating the holiday. Some even boarded the bus with some “gold!” What fun!

  6. I get to celebrate two days in a row because we had a party at work yesterday and stuffed ourselves w/ bratwurst and green foods. We’re all about the celebration. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
